The Flemish Taxi Central has its roots in Taxi Gilbert. Dennis Vankemmel, founder of Taxi Gilbert, entered the industry in the 1990s. During that time, he built up a veritable taxi landscape in South-West Flanders.
The name ‘Taxi Gilbert’ is still known today by practically everyone in Kortrijk and the surrounding area. It is characterised primarily by punctuality, transparency and accuracy.
The name disappeared more than a decade ago and was transformed into Vlaamse Taxi Centrale. Whereas Taxi Gilbert used to employ salaried drivers, VTC switched to self-employed drivers. In October 2019, GV Group BV took over and is now primarily committed to digitising, simplifying and optimising the taxi landscape. Our goal: to offer efficient, modern and user-friendly taxi services so that every customer enjoys a comfortable and smooth ride.
In its purest form, VTC is a taxi dispatch service. We provide a dispatch service that is managed professionally, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with no closing days. VTC collects all taxi orders via any channel and distributes them among independent drivers.
In 2023, VTC switched to a different software package with multi-company settings. This allows other taxi companies with fleets of three or more vehicles in Flanders to benefit from the technological developments that the taxi industry has to offer, without having to make heavy investments. We help these taxi companies in their region to optimise and automate their operations while retaining customer ownership.
